Meet the teacher, then follow the named masters
Sellen first appears in the Waypoint Ruins cellar in Limgrave after its boss. She sells sorceries and begins her personal route once you have found the relevant legendary masters, Azur and Lusat. Return to her after each discovery and exhaust dialogue. The quest uses several hidden or separated locations, so a conversation that seems to end can simply mean the next character is in a different region.
Later, Sellen asks for help at Witchbane Ruins in the Weeping Peninsula. Speak to her there to receive the item needed for the next transfer. Her replacement body is hidden in the Three Sisters area near Ranni’s Rise, behind an illusory floor. The key distinction is that the Witchbane interaction and the Three Sisters interaction are both required; finding one does not finish the quest.
Do not skip Jerren’s side of the route
After Radahn, speak to Jerren at Redmane Castle. He later moves to Witchbane Ruins, where the confrontation advances the story. Continue returning to the relevant locations after each conversation; do not use a missing summon sign as evidence that the quest is broken until you have completed the dialogue chain and reached the Grand Library after Rennala.
| Checkpoint | What to do |
|---|---|
| Waypoint Ruins | Defeat the cellar boss, meet Sellen, and use her as a sorcery merchant. |
| Azur and Lusat | Find each master and bring their named spell discoveries back to Sellen. |
| Witchbane / Three Sisters | Take the essential item at Witchbane, then locate her new vessel near Ranni’s Rise. |
| Grand Library | After the required conversations, choose the available Sellen or Jerren sign with care. |
The final choice has lasting quest consequences and rewards, so read both signs before acting. This guide deliberately keeps the outcome behind a spoiler boundary and does not present a universally better choice. Sellen’s merchant role and quest role overlap, but buying a spell is not required to advance every stage. For spell preparation, use Sorcery and Incantations Basics.
