Make Stormveil’s last fight a timing fight
Godrick waits beyond the Secluded Cell in Stormveil, after Margit. This is a good point to stop treating every flask as a damage buffer. Reinforce the weapon you actually use, improve flask count and potency at a Site of Grace, and keep a medium or lighter load if that gives you a reliable dodge. The gold summon sign near the fog can provide an NPC ally when its quest conditions have been met; a Spirit Ash is another option. Either one buys a heal or a flank, but neither makes Godrick safe to attack through.
His first phase is built around delayed axe swings, a short axe combo, and wind attacks that punish panic rolls. Stay near a front-side angle where you can see the axe head. When he begins a slow lift, wait for the weapon to move rather than rolling at the wind-up. A roll into the finishing swing often leaves you beside him for one or two hits. Back away after that; his recovery is brief and the next chain can start quickly.
| Godrick action | Useful response |
|---|---|
| Slow overhead or wide axe finish | Dodge on the committed swing, then take a short punish. |
| Whirlwind at range | Run or roll sideways until the gust ends; do not spend stamina trying to trade. |
| Repeated axe chain | Wait for the finishing swing. If you block, preserve enough stamina to escape before your guard breaks. |
| Boss turns to a summon | Take the side angle, then leave before his next swing catches both targets. |
Treat the dragon arm as area control
At roughly half health, the cutscene signals a new phase. Godrick’s grafted dragon arm adds fire breath, fire projectiles, and larger coverage around melee attacks. The safest place is often close to a side after the fire has committed: rolling straight away from a sweeping breath can keep you inside its reach. Watch the ground as well as his body. If the fire is already spreading across your route, disengage first and use the empty moment to restore stamina.
Do not heal merely because he has created distance. He can cover it with wind or fire. Heal after a complete breath, a committed leap, or an axe sequence whose final motion you saw. Ranged builds should use those same endings; casting while he begins a wind-up is how a clean opening becomes a trade.
Winning gives Godrick’s Great Rune and a Remembrance. The rune still needs activation at the Divine Tower of Limgrave before it can be equipped at a Site of Grace. The Lake-Facing Cliffs route opens next, and the Academy Glintstone Key route is a natural way into Liurnia. Keep the Remembrance until you have decided whether to exchange it; it has more than one possible reward.
