Elden Ring: How to Remove the Frenzied Flame
This page includes story or boss spoilers.
On this page
Inheriting the Frenzied Flame locks the ending toward Lord of Frenzied Flame until you remove it. The reversal is possible, but it is a long chain with a location-specific final use.
Know when you need the needle
If you have inherited the Frenzied Flame and want another ending available, plan the reversal before the final choice. Miquella’s Needle removes that state. Once removed, the Frenzied Flame cannot be inherited again, so treat this as a real commitment rather than a cosmetic cleanup.
Finish Millicent’s helpful route
First complete Millicent’s quest through Elphael. At the final pair of summon signs, choose the gold sign and help her against her sisters. Afterward, speak with her and reload the area to retrieve the Unalloyed Gold Needle.
Defeat Malenia, then interact with the Scarlet Aeonia left after the fight. This converts the recovered needle into Miquella’s Needle. The red summon-sign outcome does not give the returned needle needed for this route, which is why Millicent’s final choice matters.
Use it in the one valid arena
Take Miquella’s Needle to Dragonlord Placidusax’s arena in Crumbling Farum Azula. From Beside the Great Bridge, take the elevator down, leave through the outside opening, follow the cliff to the floating rocks, and lie down in the empty grave to enter the arena. You do not need to defeat Placidusax: use the needle once you arrive to dispel the Flame of Frenzy and reopen the other ending choices.
Do not try it at a Site of Grace, in the Roundtable Hold, or at the final boss room; the item’s location rule is absolute. You can remove the Frenzied Flame before resolving the ending, then return to the last choice when ready. Removing the flame reopens endings whose own quest requirements you have completed; the needle does not complete those other quests for you.
