Reach the library with flasks to spare
Rennala is at the end of Raya Lucaria’s Grand Library. You must first pass the Academy Glintstone Key route, defeat Red Wolf of Radagon, and work through the courtyard route from the Debate Parlor. Bring the weapon or casting setup you understand best. Her first phase is less about damage than clearing one mechanic quickly; the second asks you to recognise casts and keep a controlled distance.
In phase one, Rennala floats inside a gold barrier while students throw books and debris. Find a singing student with a gold aura and strike it. After three aura-bearing students are interrupted, Rennala falls and can be damaged. Do not hit every student in the room: look for the aura and sound, then move between targets. Once the barrier returns, reset and repeat.
The room itself can hurt you. Keep moving when books gather overhead, and do not stand beneath falling chandeliers or debris while looking for the last aura. When Rennala is down, use a compact attack string rather than spending all stamina. Her next shield cycle matters more than squeezing in a slow, risky final hit.
In phase two, answer the cast in front of you
The arena changes and Rennala begins using glintstone attacks, a large moon spell, and temporary summons. The useful rule is simple: evade the active spell, close only when her casting animation has ended, then leave before the next one. Sideways movement is stronger than retreating in a straight line against her direct magic. If the moon is filling the arena, create space and wait for it to pass instead of forcing a cast through it.
Her summoned creatures are interruptions, not a new boss you must kill. A summon that is already pressuring you deserves distance and attention. If it is far away, keep your focus on Rennala and use the next clear casting recovery. A Spirit Ash can also split her attention, but it should not make you ignore her large spells.
| Moment | What to do |
|---|---|
| Gold barrier active | Find only the glowing singers and break three auras. |
| Rennala falls | Use a short damage sequence, then prepare for the barrier. |
| Glintstone volley begins | Strafe or roll sideways, then close after it ends. |
| Summon appears | Avoid its pressure; punish Rennala when it is safe rather than chasing it. |
Her victory gives the Great Rune of the Unborn and a Remembrance. Rennala remains in the library and can rebirth a character in exchange for a Larval Tear, so this is a practical respec unlock rather than a rune to activate at a tower. The academy also has a second key for Thops on its rooftop route; do not confuse that optional key with the entrance key already bound to your character.
