Elden Ring Items and Consumables
On this page
Most items in Elden Ring are optional, but a small group earns a permanent place in your quick slots. The rest are for specific fights, and knowing which is which saves a lot of deaths.
Flasks come first
Your two flasks are the most important items in the game. Golden Seeds increase how many uses each flask has, and Sacred Tears increase how much a flask restores. Collecting them is one of the highest-value things you can do in any region, and they are usually found at churches, ruins, and the small golden trees you can see dotted across the map.
The consumables worth carrying
| Item | When it pays off |
|---|---|
| Throwing pots | Damage from range when you have no better option |
| Greases | Adding an element or status to a weapon for one fight |
| Boluses | Clearing poison, rot, bleed or frostbite when it lands |
| Throwing knives | Finishing an enemy or pulling one out of a group |
| Furlcalling Finger Remedy | Seeing co-op summon signs |
| Rune Arcs | Activating a Great Rune’s blessing |
The flasks you forget about
The Wondrous Physick is a mix-your-own flask that only refills at a Site of Grace. Its Crystal Tears let you stack two temporary effects, and they can be swapped between attempts. It is the single most useful item most players under-use, because the right pair of tears can turn a losing fight around.
Carrying less is fine
You do not need a full inventory. A couple of pots, a grease that matches the boss’s weakness, and the right bolus for the status effect in play is enough. Everything else can stay in the chest at the Roundtable Hold until you need it.
