Elden Ring: Flask Upgrades and Wondrous Physick
On this page
Treat charges and strength as two different problems
Rest at a Site of Grace and choose Flasks. Golden Seeds add uses, while Sacred Tears raise the amount restored by each Crimson or Cerulean use. The menu shows how many Seeds the next charge costs, so there is no reason to keep guessing whether an early seed is enough. Sacred Tears are usually found in churches; Golden Seeds often sit beneath small golden saplings. Mark either site after taking the upgrade so you do not double back later looking for it.
The useful early question is not a fixed charge count. Ask whether your last boss attempt ended because you ran out of uses or because a single heal did not restore enough. Spend Seed progress on the first problem and look for church tears when the second keeps happening. A melee character normally needs more Crimson uses; a spell-heavy character can shift more toward Cerulean. Change the split at a Grace whenever a different fight calls for it.
Give the Physick a purpose
The Flask of Wondrous Physick comes from the Third Church of Marika in eastern Limgrave. It holds two Crystal Tears, and its mix is consumed in one drink. Do not fill it with effects simply because they sound strong. Pick a purpose for the next trip: a defensive buffer for a boss’s first aggressive phase, a resource burst before a planned skill window, or a damage setup you can trigger safely.
| Situation | Better flask habit |
|---|---|
| Learning a boss | Keep ordinary healing available; drink the Physick before the phase where it matters. |
| Exploring a cave | Favour reliable Crimson/Cerulean charges over a clever mix you may never use. |
| Trying a weapon skill or spell | Set the Cerulean allocation and Physick around one clear opening, then reset afterward. |
The Wondrous Physick is not a replacement for ordinary flasks, and its Tear choices widen as you explore. This page avoids a universal “best mix” because the value changes with your weapon, attributes, and encounter. It also covers the base game; DLC blessing systems are not flask upgrades. Pair this with A Useful First Limgrave Route to collect the early pieces without a blind sweep of the map.
