Mortal Shell II has received a launch-period hotfix, a Week 1 update, and a newer Steam announcement headed “New Update Out Now.” The safest place to check a change is the game’s Steam news feed, because older guide advice can become wrong after a balance pass.
The Week 1 update added Fragile Tarstones, a way to respec a Shell, economy changes for Glimpses and Tarcores, and exploration adjustments. It also reworked riposte scaling and included save, crash, collision, and controller fixes. The later update adds an optional experimental Adaptive Difficulty setting, changes several Shell abilities, improves lost Gloom recovery, and gives smaller Beacons distinct icons in Mether’s Breath.
What to re-check after an update
| If your build uses… | Re-check this |
|---|---|
| Ripostes | Damage and timing advice |
| Genessa or Sariel | Ability behaviour |
| Fragile Tarstones | Break and reward behaviour |
| Beacons | Fast-travel icons and route notes |
| Frame generation or a controller | Options and input behaviour |
Patch notes can explain a changed system, but they do not replace your save. If an issue remains after updating, the official post is the best starting point for checking whether it is known.
