Mortal Shell II Status Effects
On this page
Give each effect enough time to matter
Status effects come from Shell abilities, Tarstones and equipment choices. The useful build rule is simple: choose an effect you can apply reliably, then choose a weapon and Shell that keep you alive while it does its work. Throwing several unrelated effects into one loadout can leave every slot doing a little and none of them deciding the fight.
| Effect | What it does | A matching follow-up |
|---|---|---|
| Bloodcurse | large damage after enough stacks | keep landing the same infusion |
| Burn or Poison | accumulated or long-lasting damage over time | keep safe pressure on the target |
| Frost | freezes after enough stacks | use the pause to heal or punish |
| Lightning | damage over time, then a shockwave | set up a crowd before closing in |
| Curse | turns back the next melee strike after enough stacks | force a melee response |
| Perforation | increases Sidearm damage taken | spend Resolve on a ranged follow-up |
| Weak | lowers enemy damage | take a safer trade |
Plan the application route
Start by naming your trigger. Proxima’s Lightning is a Shell-led plan; Troubadour’s Lute makes the Sidearm the trigger; Tarstones can add an ailment to an equipped weapon. Once you have the trigger, ask how often it can connect. A slow heavy attack may be great for a single staggered target, while a quick combo or a safe projectile is easier to repeat in a crowd.
Other conditions change the tempo rather than raw damage. Shadow makes you undetectable for its duration; Stasis slows the target and grows stronger with more stacks; Trauma deals Break Damage over time; Pain turns health into Grey Health that can be recovered with melee hits. Fragile raises weapon damage taken, while Havoc raises Break Damage taken from ranged attacks. Choose the effect whose follow-up you can actually deliver.
