Mortal Shell II Tarstones
On this page
Five Tarstone types, ten slots
Tarstones modify an equipped Shell, primary weapon or Sidearm. There are Support, Combat, Infusion, Ability and Fragile Tarstones. A loadout can hold four Shell-compatible stones plus two Combat, two Infusion and two Ability stones. A stone must match compatible equipment before it can be slotted.
| Stone | Slot | Level 1 effect | Pickup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Devout Stone | Shell Support | +50% Resolve from melee attacks | behind the Sester’s Abbey gate |
| Shattering Stone | Weapon Support | +150% melee Stagger Damage | Collapsed Mines chest |
| Duality Stone | Weapon Combat | first light attack strikes twice | Ravaged Tomb chest |
| Wounding Stone | Weapon Combat | 2 Perforation stacks per melee hit | chest south of Mushroom Village |
| Voltaic Crown | Sidearm Infusion | 30 Resolve for Lightning on 4 attacks | Nochtean Gate boss reward |
| Egon’s Stone | Shell Fragile | dungeon-entrance revive on death | Merrick or dungeon/enemy drops |
Growth and breakable stones
Tarstones gain experience while equipped as you kill enemies. Bring Etching Needles to Franz at the Marrow Keep Tarforge to unlock their upgrades; coins pay for the next level once the stone has enough experience. Most stones improve across four levels.
Fragile Tarstones use durability instead. Egon’s Stone has three uses and breaks after activating its revive effect; it prevents the Gloom loss from that death and grants a Tarcore. Glimpse Stone loses durability as enemies die, then breaks into three Glimpses and a Tarcore. Use Fragile stones when their break reward or emergency effect is worth the slot.
