DREDGE Twisted Strand Fish Guide: Mangrove, Night Fish and Tigerfish

On this page

Fit Mangrove gear before entering the maze

Twisted Strand is the region where a missing Mangrove-capable rod stops more progress than a faster engine. The base-game rod catches include Grey Mullet, Tarpon, Sergeant Fish, Gar, Longfin Eel, and Catfish. The base-game pot targets are Horseshoe Crab and Giant Mud Crab. Check the spot’s habitat icon before committing to a channel: the region mixes Coastal, Shallow, and Mangrove water rather than behaving like an open-ocean coast.

This is a base-game route reference for the catches that dictate time, gear, or channel access. It does not replace the game’s full fish and aberration list, so use the encyclopedia when a specific undiscovered entry is the goal.

Target group Time Gear
Grey Mullet Any Coastal rod or trawl net.
Tarpon Any Shallow rod or trawl net.
Sergeant Fish / Gar Day Mangrove rod or trawl net.
Longfin Eel Night Mangrove rod only; leave a safe return line.
Catfish Night Mangrove rod or trawl net; leave a safe return line.
Horseshoe Crab / Giant Mud Crab Any Crab pots.
Goliath Tigerfish Any Mangrove rod and access to E12.

Make night catches a separate visit

Longfin Eel and Catfish are night catches. The Strand’s narrow roots and fog are bad terrain for improvised darkness, so catch them with a simple loop: rest at the Rickety Pontoon or camp, leave with the route already marked, catch the one target, and return. A longer night detour for lumber or a relic often costs more hull condition than it saves.

Plan the exotic after the channel is open

Goliath Tigerfish is the Twisted Strand Recording Rarities fish, found around E12. It needs a Mangrove-capable rod and access through the blocked route. It is available at any time, which means the gear and channel are the gate, not the clock. Bring Packed Explosives if your route still has the obstruction, then return to a pontoon to report it.

The regional pursuit page, Twisted Strand Pursuits, covers the Airman and mortars. Use Recording Rarities only after the tigerfish is actually in the hold.
