Scope: the Pale Reach DLC fish set
This is a route reference for the Pale Reach DLC fish and capture methods. It covers the eleven ordinary species added by the ice biome and the gear decision for each group; aberrations use the same underlying fish availability but are not a promise that one will appear on a given cast.

Fit ice-capable gear, then choose the method
An ordinary rod that lacks the ice habitat cannot catch an Icefish just because you are in the DLC region. The same rule applies to the net: Stargazer and Colossal Squid are net catches, so sail with an ice-capable trawl net rather than waiting at a rod spot. Sea Stars and King Crab require crab pots at 50 metres or deeper; a pot dropped too shallow will not answer the encyclopedia entry.
Only Wolffish has a night window in the ordinary set. Make that a single-target night loop from the Bleak Pontoon or another discovered safe stop. The other named ordinary fish are available at any time, so they are better paired with Ice Axe dredging, merchant errands, or an Ice Shaper return rather than forcing more darkness into the route.
Use Ice Blocks for a long haul, not a shortcut
The Ice Shaper pursuit lets the Travelling Merchant sell Ice Blocks. Place a block with fish in cargo to slow the usual loss of freshness. It helps when you are carrying multiple catches across the ice field, but it does not replace a trawl net, a pot, or the correct habitat rod. It also does not keep a cargo grid clear by itself, so plan the block’s space before loading a large fish.
The Rock Slab and four Frozen Hearts reward path is separate from normal fishing. For the Icebreaker and four-memory story order, use Pale Reach Route. For base-game deep fish, use Recording Rarities rather than assuming Pale Reach gear covers Abyssal or Hadal water.
