DREDGE Castaway Pursuit Guide: L11 Rescue and Signet Ring
On this page
Find him before planning a long trip
The Castaway waits on the small island at L11, near Steel Point. Approach the SOS sign on the shore, interact with the question-mark marker, and agree to take him to Little Marrow. He becomes passenger cargo, so this is a job to start when the hold is clear rather than after filling every open square with fish and lumber.
The passenger occupies a 2 by 3 space. Open the cargo screen before you leave the island. Move sellable fish out at Greater Marrow or Little Marrow first if the outline cannot fit. A passenger is not a trinket: treat a collision, a damaged hull, or dropping him from the cargo grid as a failed escort, then keep the route short and calm.
Take the direct return
Leave L11 and head back into the Marrows for Little Marrow. You do not need to detour through Ingfell, visit a pontoon, or wait for a particular time of day. The useful decision is whether to make this your return leg after a nearby dredging run. If the hold is already arranged, the rescue and delivery fit naturally into a Steel Point loop.
Dock at Little Marrow with the Castaway still aboard. Completing the escort gives the Signet Ring, which can be sold as a trinket. The ring is the practical reward; the pursuit does not open a new fishing habitat or upgrade menu.
Do not follow old timer advice
Older launch-era guides mention an in-game deadline for this rescue. The current DREDGE Wiki documents that the Castaway’s former time limit was removed. That does not make rough travel safe: the cargo failure states still matter once he is on the boat. Start the job only when you can carry the passenger immediately, and avoid treating him as spare inventory space.
If you are still building a first boat layout, finish A Place to Rest for its early book and Research Parts, then return for the Castaway with a cleaner cargo grid. Ship Upgrades explains why a hull change can be more useful than buying another small piece of gear.
