Know which bell does which job

The Folding Screen Monkeys are reached from Senpou Temple’s Main Hall. After the rooftop conversation sequence following Genichiro, interact with the altar to enter the Hall of Illusions. This is a puzzle boss, not a duel: chasing a monkey around the same roof wastes time because each one has a sense or escape habit that the level is designed to counter.

Before moving, look at the four spectral figures near the starting point. Their hints point to four targets: orange Speak No Evil, green Hear No Evil, purple See No Evil, and the invisible Do No Evil. Start with orange when possible. Its call alerts the others, so removing it early makes the remaining routes calmer. From the opening screens, take the left route, grapple onto the roof, then circle behind orange on the roof above the first intersection. Kill it before it sees Wolf and calls the others away.

There are two bells with different purposes. The Illusive Hall Bell is the inventory item: use it to reset surviving monkeys to their starting positions. It does not undo monkeys you have already deathblown. The large physical bell inside the Hall is the answer to green Hear No Evil. Ring it near the green monkey to deafen and stun it, then close in for the kill. A quiet approach can also work.

Purple See No Evil needs the room’s dark side, not a long roof chase. Open the far door to the dark room, make the purple monkey flee inside, then circle around and approach from behind. The room is already dark once opened; no separate light-extinguishing action is needed. In darkness it loses the sight advantage that lets it spot you across the open roofs.

Catch the invisible monkey at the start

The invisible Do No Evil monkey follows directly behind Wolf near the starting point. Turn around immediately and attack its position; you do not need to wait for a special deathblow prompt. If you have already moved away, use the Illusive Hall Bell, then follow its footsteps after the reset and strike where they stop. This is more dependable than searching every roof for a target that cannot be seen.

Puzzle obstacle Useful answer
Orange Speak No Evil alerts others Kill it early, before an extended rooftop chase.
Green Hear No Evil keeps escaping Ring the large physical bell in the Hall, then attack while it is stunned.
Purple See No Evil sees you coming Open the far door, drive it into the dark room, and approach from behind.
Invisible Do No Evil is missing Reset with the inventory bell, follow its footsteps, and attack the position behind you.

Each kill remains counted after an Illusive Hall Bell reset, so you do not need all four in one uninterrupted lap. The cleanest order is usually orange first, the invisible monkey at the start, then green and purple with their room tools. The room has enough vertical space to lose the camera, so pause after a grapple and check where a visible target landed before committing.

Victory gives Puppeteer Ninjutsu and advances the Mortal Blade route. Return through the exit, speak with the Divine Child, and continue the Senpou objective. Puppeteer has practical uses beyond this puzzle, including manipulating enemies who block routes. It is worth reading Prosthetic Tools alongside it because the same area rewards thinking about tools as situational answers rather than damage buttons.
