Sekiro Prosthetic Tools Guide: Early Routes, Slots, and Better Uses

On this page

Find, fit, equip, then test

Shinobi Tools become Prosthetic Tools only after you give them to the Sculptor at the Dilapidated Temple. After he fits one, open Equipment and put it in one of the three prosthetic slots. The manual confirms that tools use Spirit Emblems, so do not treat them as free replacements for sword timing.

The first useful early tool is the Shuriken Wheel. From Outskirts Wall – Gate Path, grapple through the hole in the nearby building and collect it. Bring it straight back to the Sculptor once so you understand the fitting step before you find several tools at once.

Early tools worth planning around

Tool Early route Player problem it answers
Loaded Shuriken Shuriken Wheel near Gate Path Interrupts or punishes a target that leaves the ground or disengages
Shinobi Firecracker Buy Robert’s Firecrackers from the mountain merchant past Kawarada Creates a short opening against certain animal enemies
Flame Vent Hirata Estate, in the fire area near the Estate Path route Gives you a fire option when an enemy is vulnerable to it
Loaded Axe Hirata Estate, from the Shinobi Axe memorial offering Breaks shield pressure and creates a heavy opening

The practical route is to get the Shuriken first, then buy the Firecrackers before the horse boss if you have explored past Kawarada. Hirata tools can wait until you have the bell route and want to pursue Lady Butterfly. Do not delay the entire Outskirts because you want every tool immediately.

Pick a tool for the next move

Tool use is strongest when it creates a clear follow-up: Firecrackers can buy a moment to attack or heal; the Axe can answer a shield; Shuriken can punish a distant animation. If you spend emblems simply because a tool is equipped, you may have none when a boss gives you the opening it was chosen for.

After you have three fitted tools, the Sculptor gives the Prosthetic Esoteric Text, opening the related skill tree. That is a reason to collect early tools, but not a reason to buy upgrades you cannot yet afford. Skills and Mikiri Counter helps choose the first useful skills.

For an early boss application, Firecrackers are a sensible option for Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa, but deflection and grapple timing remain the core of the fight.
