The Bone People
Three people live in different kinds of isolation on the coast of New Zealand's South Island: a reclusive artist, a mute boy, and the boy's foster father. Over the course of the novel they form a tentative relationship, are driven apart by violence, and come back together, with Māori and Pākehā language and myth woven through the book.
