Immortal Born
Allie Chambers promised a dying friend that she would look after the woman's infant son, which turns out to involve more than ordinary childcare, because the baby is a vampire and he is growing hungrier.
About
Immortal Born is a paranormal romance by the Canadian writer Lynsay Sands, published in 2019. It belongs to her Argeneau series, in which vampires are the descendants of an ancient people and live secretly among human beings.
Allie Chambers has kept a promise made to a friend at the end of her life, and the promise has taken over her existence. The child she is raising needs blood, and as he grows he needs more of it than she can supply herself, which is how she ends up trying to take what she needs from a blood bank rather than asking anybody for help.
That attempt fails. Allie wakes up in a hospital environment with police, medical staff and a stranger called Magnus looking at her, and Magnus is not surprised by any part of the situation, because he has recognised the child for what he is. He also has reason to believe that a group of rogue immortals is looking for the boy, which puts Allie, who did not know that any of this existed, at the centre of a quarrel between people she has just met.
