Dark Souls II Scholar: Last Giant and Pursuer
On this page
The Last Giant rewards staying at its feet, then leaving when the body shifts. Circle toward the rear after a stomp or arm sweep, take a short attack string, and watch for the change into a larger motion. The arena is wide enough to heal after creating distance; do not try to roll through the next attack while already out of stamina.
The Pursuer is faster and asks for a different rhythm. Keep a medium distance until the charge or sword sequence commits, dodge to its side, and take one safe response. A shield can catch a single hit, but repeated blocking drains stamina quickly and leaves no roll available for the follow-up. If the curse pressure is overwhelming, prioritize a clean dodge over damage.
Both fights become easier when the route behind you is secured. Unlock Cardinal Tower shortcuts, spend souls at Majula, and return with a reinforced weapon instead of forcing a low-damage attempt. The reward is a better foothold in Forest of Fallen Giants and paths toward the next regions; Base-Game Progression explains the larger branch.
