Chapter VII: If You Don't Woe Me by Now

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Mayor Walker's funeral brings Wednesday an unexpected visitor: Uncle Fester, who needs somewhere to hide from the police. He identifies the creature as a Hyde and directs her to Nathaniel Faulkner's diary in the Nightshades library. The book explains that someone can awaken a dormant Hyde and become its master. Wednesday now believes she is searching for two people, and Xavier's private meetings with Dr Kinbott strengthen her suspicions. Tyler offers a different kind of distraction, arranging a date in Crackstone's crypt. When Wednesday returns, the diary has disappeared and Thing has been stabbed. Fester uses electrical shocks to revive him, leaving Wednesday determined to find the attacker.

Information recovered from Walker's investigation suggests that Laurel Gates survived and returned under another identity. Wednesday decides that Kinbott is Laurel and confronts her, but the therapist denies the accusation and is killed by the Hyde after Wednesday leaves. Evidence in Xavier's studio then helps put him in custody, despite his insistence that he is being framed. Wednesday treats the arrest as a resolution and reconciles with Enid, who moves back into their room. Encouraged to pursue the person she trusts, Wednesday visits Tyler at the Weathervane. Their kiss triggers a vision of him killing Kinbott in his monster form. Her confidence in the case collapses with the discovery that Tyler is the Hyde.
