Gordon tells Albert and Tammy about a plan he made with Briggs and Cooper to find the force called Judy. Bushnell's message then sends the FBI toward Twin Peaks, where Mr C has arrived at the sheriff's station. Andy welcomes the man he thinks is Cooper, but the real detective calls Frank while travelling with the Mitchums. The double reaches for his gun and Lucy shoots him. In the cells, Freddie stops Chad from attacking Andy. Woodsmen gather over Mr C's body, and the BOB orb emerges. Freddie fights it with his green glove and shatters it. Cooper puts the ring on the double, whose body disappears.
Naido transforms into Diane, allowing her reunion with Cooper while the officers and arriving FBI team gather around them. Frank gives Cooper the hotel key, and Cooper leaves with Gordon and Diane before continuing through a dark doorway alone. MIKE takes him to Jeffries, who helps him reach the night before Laura's murder. Cooper watches her leave James, steps into her path and offers to take her home. She recognises him from her dreams and follows him through the woods. Laura's wrapped body disappears from the shore, allowing Pete's familiar morning walk to continue toward fishing. Sarah attacks Laura's photograph in the Palmer house. Cooper looks back and discovers that Laura has vanished from his hand, her scream sounding through the darkness.
