Spoilers for Stranger Things season 2 episode 5.
Hopper becomes trapped beneath the pumpkin field as the tunnels close around him. Will sees him in danger through the memories he shares with the shadow creature, giving Joyce a chance to find him. Bob recognises landmarks in Will's drawings and realises that the sheets form a map of Hawkins. Using that map, Joyce and Bob locate Hopper's abandoned truck and enter the tunnels to rescue him. Laboratory personnel arrive as they cut him free. Mike hopes that Will can spy on the creature, but Will worries that it might also spy on them.
Eleven visits Terry Ives and her sister Becky, then enters her mother's memories. She sees Terry trying to retrieve Jane from Hawkins Lab, where another girl shares the Rainbow Room. Guards take Terry away, and Brenner orders the treatment that leaves her trapped in repeating fragments of that day. Nancy and Jonathan bring their recording to Murray, who argues that the public will believe a simpler account of laboratory wrongdoing than the full truth about another dimension. Elsewhere, Dustin lures Dart into the cellar and searches for someone who can help him deal with it. He recruits Steve and his nail-studded bat. Lucas tells Max what happened to Will, but she wants proof before accepting his account. Back at the rescue site, the laboratory workers burn the vines. Will collapses above ground, screaming in pain.
