Season synopsis

Lucifer’s mother, inhabiting Charlotte Richards, returns to Earth after escaping Hell, and the celestial family’s plans complicate Lucifer’s partnership with Chloe and their homicide cases. Charlotte wants to find a way home to Heaven, while Lucifer and Amenadiel discover that the Flaming Sword may offer a route. Lucifer resists returning to Hell, and Amenadiel struggles with his place in the family after learning their father has called him the favorite son. Maze, Linda and Dan become part of the brothers’ shifting alliances as Charlotte’s power returns.
The search for the sword’s missing piece and a murder investigation converge as Charlotte learns Lucifer and Amenadiel intend to send her back to Hell. She regains her celestial powers and accidentally kills Chet, then wounds Linda while forcing her to reveal the brothers’ plan. At the Santa Monica Pier, Chloe and Dan confront Charlotte as Lucifer arrives with the completed Flaming Sword. Amenadiel freezes time so Maze can get Linda medical help; Lucifer opens a doorway for Charlotte to make a new world. Charlotte, the Goddess, leaves through it, while Charlotte Richards’ human body revives. Lucifer calls Chloe to confess, but is knocked unconscious; he wakes in the desert with his wings restored, unable to explain how he got there.
