Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Lucifer continues consulting with Chloe while struggling to understand his restored wings and why his Devil face has disappeared. Lieutenant Marcus Pierce, outwardly a capable new colleague, is secretly Cain, the first murderer, cursed with immortality and searching for a way to die. His partnership with Chloe turns into a proposal and a promise of a normal life, while Lucifer tries to keep his feelings from affecting their work. Maze’s growing distance from Linda and Amenadiel’s doubts add pressure as Lucifer searches for a way to break Cain’s curse. A nightmare in which Chloe falls while his wings fail sends Lucifer to Linda for help understanding why he cannot protect her.
Before Charlotte’s death, Lucifer had promised Pierce he would find a way to end the curse. Pierce later becomes mortal and makes a life with Chloe seem possible, but his plan collapses when he attacks Amenadiel. Charlotte steps between them and is shot, dying while protecting Amenadiel; he regains his wings and carries her soul to Heaven. Dan is devastated. Pierce later ambushes Chloe and Lucifer. Lucifer shields Chloe with his wings, then kills Pierce with Maze’s blade. Chloe arrives as Lucifer’s Devil face returns and sees it for the first time. The season’s two separately released bonus episodes sit outside this main finale sequence.
