Loki follows the fugitive into TVA headquarters, where she tries to reach the Time-Keepers. Their fight is interrupted by Renslayer, and Loki uses a TemPad to send them both away. They arrive on Lamentis-1 in 2077, a moon facing destruction as a planet breaks apart above it. The device has no power, leaving them dependent on each other to escape. The woman insists on being called Sylvie and refuses Loki's proposed partnership. A local directs them towards an evacuation ark, whose power might recharge the TemPad, but reaching it means boarding a train intended for people with tickets.
Disguises get them aboard, and conversation briefly replaces their argument as they compare their mothers, magic and past relationships. Loki drinks and sings, attracting the guards' attention. The resulting fight ends with him thrown off the train; Sylvie follows and discovers that the TemPad has broken. They decide to reach the ark on foot and change its doomed departure instead. Along the way, Sylvie explains that the TVA's workers are variants with earlier lives, contradicting the story Loki was told about their creation. They fight through the crowded streets towards the ship, only to watch it destroyed before they can board. With their device ruined and the ark gone, neither has an escape route.
