Dex seeks Julie's help after the Bulletin attack, explaining his dependence on her as a positive influence rather than accepting that his surveillance frightened her. She agrees to support him, but Fisk has her killed and sends messages that make Dex believe she has rejected him. The intervention removes someone who might have helped Dex regain control, leaving Fisk in a position to offer the loyalty and direction he has been deliberately taking away from others.
Ray and Matt investigate Dex's apartment while a meeting about his suspension draws him away. They find recordings of therapy sessions that reveal his violent impulses, though the Daredevil suit is no longer there. Dex returns before they finish. He spots them escaping and fires shots that ricochet towards them, wounding Ray. They get away, and Dex burns his therapy tapes as he commits himself more fully to Fisk. Matt returns to the church carrying another failed opportunity to stop him.
Foggy publicly challenges Tower and outlines Fisk's possible plan to sell protection from federal prosecution. Karen misses the event to confront Fisk herself. He presses her about Matt, and her reaction confirms his suspicion that Matt is Daredevil. She then reveals that she killed Wesley, provoking Fisk until agents and Foggy intervene. At the church, Matt overhears Maggie praying to Jack for their son. Her words tell him that the nun caring for him is his mother.
