Matt, Foggy and Brett move Ray's family to safety, while Ray agrees to testify about the organisation Fisk has built within the FBI. Foggy secures Tower's cooperation by ending his own campaign for district attorney. Ray accepts that giving evidence will not erase his crimes and agrees to face imprisonment rather than demand immunity. Matt and Foggy briefly work together as lawyers again, but getting their witness to a courthouse still requires surviving the men sent to stop him.
Fisk's attackers intercept the journey, forcing Matt and Ray to fight through traffic before reaching the grand jury. Karen and Ellison publicly identify Dex as the man impersonating Daredevil. Vanessa arrives at the hotel as Fisk absorbs another failure, and Dex tries to restore his standing by returning the white painting with blood on its frame. Vanessa tells Fisk she wants to share the real decisions of his life, prompting him to show her the surveillance room.
The legal effort fails when intimidated jurors refuse to indict, leaving Ray's testimony sealed. He separates himself from Foggy and goes home to record a message for his family, knowing they remain endangered while he is alive. Vanessa orders his removal, and Dex arrives to kill him. Ray's effort to turn his former colleague against Fisk does not work. Dex shoots him in the garden. When Matt learns the outcome, he tells his friends he tried their approach and leaves to act on his own.
