Elektra attacks Stick, intent on killing the teacher who sent an assassin after her. Matt intervenes, but the Hand interrupts the fight and abducts Stick. Elektra initially refuses to help rescue him, still determined to finish what she started. Flashbacks show Stick training her as a child and protecting her when others in his organisation regard her as a danger. Their history gives another meaning to his efforts to control her and keep information about her identity concealed.
Matt searches the tunnels for Stick and learns to hear the breathing of fighters whose heartbeats remain hidden. He frees his mentor before Elektra reaches them. Nobu then identifies her as Black Sky, and the Hand kneels before her. Their recognition briefly offers her the sense of belonging she has lacked. Matt refuses to accept their claim over her, challenges her to kill him and helps persuade her to leave with him and Stick.
Karen interviews Schoonover about Frank and recognises the connection that makes him the Blacksmith. He pulls a gun and forces her into a car, but Frank intercepts them and drags his former commander into the woods. Karen pleads with him to stop before he becomes the killer everyone describes. Frank shuts her outside the cabin and shoots Schoonover, then discovers the weapons stored there. Matt keeps the pursuing Hand occupied so Elektra and Stick can escape, while Nobu survives another fall and orders Daredevil's death.
