Blood Money

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

A flashforward opens at Walter White’s abandoned house, where he retrieves a vial of ricin before greeting a frightened former neighbour. Back in the present, Hank Schrader has found Gale Boetticher’s inscription in Walt’s copy of Leaves of Grass. He leaves a family gathering with Marie, then retraces the old Heisenberg case from home. The clues now line up: Gale’s handwriting matches his lab notebook, and Walt’s connection to Gus Fring fits the evidence Hank had already collected. The discovery turns a family celebration into the start of a private investigation.

Walt has left the drug business and talks with Skyler about growing the car wash and moving their money faster. Lydia asks him to return because the product has deteriorated, but Skyler sends her away. Walt’s cancer has returned; he hides it and starts chemotherapy again. Jesse, meanwhile, is distressed by the deaths of Mike and Drew Sharp. He gives Saul money to pass to their families, but Saul refuses, and Walt later lies that Mike is alive before returning Jesse’s cash. Jesse gives money to a homeless man and throws bundles onto neighbourhood lawns. When Walt discovers his Leaves of Grass is missing and finds a tracker on his car, he confronts Hank. Hank punches him and calls him Heisenberg. Walt answers that Hank cannot prove it, then warns him to tread lightly.
