Season synopsis

Joan Is Awful begins when Joan discovers a streaming programme that turns her day into a cruel drama starring Salma Hayek. Her relationship and job collapse as private conversations become entertainment. Joan and Hayek join forces against Streamberry, then learn that their own world is another simulated layer. Destroying the computer follows a choice already made by the original Joan. In the physical world, Joan opens a café and remains friends with Annie Murphy while both serve house arrest.
Loch Henry follows Davis and Pia as a planned nature documentary becomes an investigation into murders in Davis’s hometown. Old videotapes reveal that his parents participated in the torture attributed to Iain Adair. Pia discovers the recordings, flees Davis’s mother Janet and dies in an accident while escaping. Janet leaves evidence and kills herself. The resulting documentary wins an award and brings tourists back, while Davis is left alone with the destruction of his family and the loss of Pia.
Demon 79 leaves contemporary streaming behind for Nida, a shop worker facing racist hostility in 1979. She releases Gaap, a demon who says three sacrifices will prevent the apocalypse. Her killings do not fulfil his terms because one victim was already a murderer. Nida chooses rising politician Michael Smart as her final target after seeing his future, but police stop her attack. Nuclear war follows, and she accepts exile with Gaap in an eternal void. The season’s selected stories end with escape, commercial success at a devastating cost and a failed attempt to prevent catastrophe.
