Lalo orders Jimmy to drive to a house and shoot the person who answers. Jimmy persuades him to send Kim instead, and she follows the directions to Gus’s home. Mike’s men intercept her before she can act; once she explains that Lalo is holding Jimmy, Gus realizes that Lalo’s willingness to switch the assigned shooter makes the mission a diversion. He heads to the unfinished laundromat lab, where Lalo has entered to gather proof of the construction for Don Eladio. Lalo kills Gus’s guards and forces him through the site while recording a video for Don Eladio. Gus uses a hidden gun to kill Lalo during the confrontation, ending the immediate threat to his operation.
Mike takes charge of the aftermath at Jimmy and Kim’s apartment. He stages Howard’s death to look like a suicide and has the bodies of Howard and Lalo moved to the lab, where they are buried beneath the floor. Jimmy and Kim are instructed to repeat the account that Howard came by, used drugs and left. Their separate roles in Lalo’s failed diversion and the cover-up leave them shaken. Gus’s crew can resume work on the hidden lab, while the official story will conceal both deaths. Mike removes Howard’s shoes, wallet and wedding ring before supervising the shared burial, leaving possessions to support the staged drowning.
