Jimmy, Kim and the film crew urgently reshoot the bribery photographs to include the mediator’s arm cast. They coat the pictures with their acquired drug and pass them through Howard’s investigator, secretly working for them. Howard handles the photographs before the mediation and recognizes Casimiro as the apparent recipient of Jimmy’s money. He accuses the mediator of corruption, then discovers that the incriminating pictures have been replaced with innocent ones. His dilated pupils and increasingly erratic accusations discredit him. The meeting collapses, forcing the lawyers to accept a lower Sandpiper settlement while Jimmy and Kim listen by telephone.
Lalo has returned to Albuquerque and watches Gus’s laundry, preparing a video for Eladio. Realizing Hector’s telephone is monitored, he deliberately announces an attack on Gus that night. Mike concentrates protection around Gus, pulling teams from other locations. Howard works out how Jimmy and Kim manipulated him and visits their apartment to confront them. He recognizes their cruelty, insists he can recover and refuses to let them dismiss what they have done. Lalo enters unexpectedly. Kim urges Howard to leave, but Lalo attaches a silencer and shoots him in the head. With Howard dead on their floor, Jimmy and Kim fall silent as Lalo announces that they will talk.
