Spoilers for this episode.
Jack Bauer's suspicion of a leak leads CTU to the calls on Tarin's phone. Chloe traces one number to an NSA handset issued to Dana Walsh. Dana has already forged permission to leave the building, but an alert reaches security before she can get away. She shoots two guards and reaches her car, where Cole stops her escape by firing at a tire. Taken back into custody, she demands to speak to Jack.
Dana offers Hassan's location in exchange for immunity, a clean record and payment. Jack agrees to seek a deal, but warns that she will receive nothing if Hassan dies. As Cole explains what he knew about Dana's past, Samir takes Hassan into an apartment and tries to force him to renounce the peace agreement. Hassan refuses, even under torture, and Samir prepares an online statement announcing his sentence.
Dana supplies an address, and CTU sends Jack, Renee and Cole to rescue Hassan. Chloe studies sunlight in the apparent live broadcast to narrow down the room, while the tactical team quietly removes the rooftop guards. Jack and Renee pass through a neighboring apartment and kill the terrorists in Hassan's room. Samir's voice continues from a laptop after he falls, exposing the broadcast as a recording. Hassan is already dead. Jack closes his eyes and apologizes, while Taylor must tell Dalia and Kayla that the rescue came too late.
