Monster Hunter Wilds: Doshaguma Hunt Guide

Let the charge end before you answer it
Doshaguma’s size and forward pressure make it tempting to follow every movement. That often places you in front of the next charge or wide swing. When it commits forward, move clear of the line, watch where the body stops, and approach the side only after the recovery begins. Short attacks into a clean reset beat a long string that gets caught by its turn.
Keep the camera and terrain in mind. A hunt becomes much harder when you fight with a wall behind you or lose the monster behind foliage. Use the Seikret, field routes, and open ground to regain a readable position. If other monsters enter the space, do not assume the moment is free damage; first make sure your target and escape route are visible.
Plan around the opening you can repeat
| Doshaguma moment | Practical response |
|---|---|
| Forward rush | Clear the path, wait for its stop, then take a side punish. |
| Wide close-range pressure | Avoid standing at the front; reset to a leg or flank when the chain ends. |
| Monster changes area | Sharpen, restock, or collect one marked resource only if it does not delay the re-engage. |
| Wound appears | Set your Focus Strike up during a real recovery, not during a turn. |
Bring the normal healing and weapon supplies, then avoid changing the whole set because one early attempt went badly. Doshaguma is a good check on how well your weapon handles a moving target. If the hunt feels chaotic, reduce the plan to three jobs: survive the charge, hit a safe side, and use one wound window. Quest Progression and Preparation covers the between-hunt reset that makes that practice easier.
If you are hunting with others, do not sprint ahead to claim the next opening while the target changes direction. Let the body settle, see where your teammates are standing, and take the exposed side that remains safe. This is a good early habit for every large target: a clean hit after a reset is worth more than a risky hit that forces the whole hunt to recover.
