Lords of the Fallen (2023): Vestiges and Seedlings
On this page
Use Vestiges to reset the whole plan
Vestiges are your dependable stops. At one, you can rest, level up, travel, and set the point that receives you after a full death. Resting is a real reset: it restores your resources and brings ordinary enemies back. Before you leave, decide what the next run is for.
Plant only where it changes the run
An Umbral Flowerbed lets you create a Vestige Seedling. With a Vestige Seed in your inventory, raise the Umbral Lamp at the flowerbed and use the plant prompt. A Seedling is a temporary checkpoint with the same practical services: rest, level, and travel. Place it when it cuts out a long hostile return or gives you a sensible starting point for a boss attempt.
You have one active Seedling. Planting another replaces the previous one and removes that earlier stop from travel. Do not spend a Seedling at the first flowerbed you see if the next permanent Vestige is close; save it for the point where a death would force you to repeat a difficult sequence.
If you are already in Umbral, a Seedling can be the safety net that keeps a second death from wasting the whole trip. Place it before a new shortcut or risky fight, then rest only when you are ready to reset nearby enemies. Pair this plan with Axiom and Umbral and return to Getting Started for the first-hours route.
Compare the distance you remove
Before planting, picture the trip after a full death. If the Seedling removes one quiet corridor, keep moving. If it removes the run through a difficult Umbral branch, an elite enemy, or a boss approach, it has earned the Seed. Plant it only after you have secured a useful piece of progress; placing it, immediately resting, and respawning the same dangerous group can undo the advantage you wanted. A new permanent Vestige usually changes the decision, so reassess the next flowerbed after every shortcut.
