Lords of the Fallen: Weapon Upgrades and Runes

Pick the move set before the material track
Weapon reinforcement raises a weapon’s effectiveness, but it cannot turn an uncomfortable move set into a good fit. Before spending a rare material, use the weapon on ordinary enemies: check the opening attack, the recovery after a heavy hit, reach in a narrow corridor, and whether you can reliably land its special moves. One dependable main weapon is a better early investment than several half-upgraded experiments.
The blacksmith service at Skyrest Bridge handles reinforcement once it becomes available. Materials and the exact upgrade path depend on weapon type and game state, so read the smithing screen instead of relying on a plus-number comparison from another weapon. A faster weapon and a slower heavy weapon can both be useful if they answer different spaces.
Let rune slots solve a named weakness
Runes fit into compatible rune slots and can adjust a weapon or shield’s behaviour. Look at the slot type and the rune’s effect, then decide what you are trying to improve: scaling that matches your attributes, weight, a status plan, or resource recovery. A rune is not automatically good just because it has a large-looking effect. A change that leaves you unable to meet the weapon’s requirements or carry your armour comfortably can make the build worse.
| Before committing | Check |
|---|---|
| Main weapon | Requirements, reach, recovery, and whether its damage plan matches your attributes. |
| Reinforcement | The actual material requested at the next step, not an assumed universal path. |
| Rune | Slot compatibility and whether the effect serves the weapon’s job. |
| Shield | Stamina cost and weight as well as any rune benefit. |
Keep a second tool only when it solves a real problem such as range, speed, or an enemy resistance. This page avoids exact material totals and patch-sensitive rankings. It covers the 2023 game, not a claim about every post-launch balance change. Use Skyrest Bridge Services to place upgrading alongside the rest of the hub’s work.
