Elden Ring Nightreign: How to Unlock Revenant

On this page

Complete the Duchess route first

Revenant is the second locked Nightfarer in the base game. You cannot start her route until Duchess is available, so finish the Duchess unlock first. Once that is done, return to the Roundtable Hold with at least 1,500 Murk.

Go to the Small Jar Bazaar in the western side of the Roundtable and buy the Besmirched Frame. This is the required item; do not spend your Murk on a replacement relic and expect the event to begin. After the purchase, leave the shop and head to the eastern side of the Roundtable, near the painting. A phantom appears there. Interact with it and choose to touch it to enter the challenge.

The route is easy to miss because the item and phantom are in different wings. Use this order rather than searching every room:

  1. Confirm Duchess is unlocked.
  2. Buy the Besmirched Frame from the Small Jar Bazaar for 1,500 Murk.
  3. Cross to the eastern Roundtable area near the painting.
  4. Touch the phantom when it appears.
  5. Defeat the Night Idol to unlock Revenant.

Beat the Night Idol, not every summon

The Night Idol calls three spirits into the encounter. They create pressure and may be worth removing when they are stopping you from reaching the boss, but defeating all three is not the unlock condition. Keep your target priority on the Night Idol itself. If a summon is close to dying and gives you a safe opening, finish it; otherwise, avoid turning the fight into three separate duels while the Idol is free to attack.

Use the room to keep the summons on one side of you, then punish the Idol after a committed attack. Heal before you are forced into a corner. This challenge happens outside the normal expedition loop, so take a minute to learn the pattern instead of treating it like a timed Limveld route.

If you die, return to the painting-side phantom and touch it again. You can retry the challenge without buying another Besmirched Frame. That is useful information: spend the Murk once, then use attempts to learn the fight rather than farming another 1,500 before every retry.

After the Night Idol falls, return to character selection and choose Revenant. Her summon-focused role is very different from Duchess’s fast melee style, so use training before a real expedition. Tell teammates when you are learning the class and stay close enough to use summons, revive pressure, and weapon drops as a group. For the expedition fundamentals that make that easier, read co-op and revival.
