Lord of Chaos
The Dark One has grown in power with many of the seals on his prison broken, and the world is being changed by it.
About
Lord of Chaos is a fantasy novel by the American author Robert Jordan and the sixth book of The Wheel of Time. It was published by Tor Books on 15 October 1994 and was nominated for the Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel in 1995.
The structure is a prologue, fifty-five chapters and an epilogue, and it is the first Wheel of Time book to have an epilogue. The Dark One, with many of the seals on his prison broken, has grown in power: he causes global warming, revives two of the Forsaken under new names, and creates an incarnation of himself as a Myrddraal. In response to Rand's amnesty for men who can channel, Mazrim Taim swears allegiance to him, and together they form the Black Tower to train them.
The book therefore advances the series on several fronts at once, which is characteristic of the middle volumes: the White Tower in exile sends an embassy, Perrin prepares to march, and Rand's authority is consolidated and contested simultaneously. The volume is one of the longer instalments, and its length comes from the number of fronts it maintains rather than from any single campaign.
