Warframe Foundry and Mastery: turn blueprints into lasting progression
On this page
Choose one piece of equipment you can realistically build, use its recipe to plan your next missions, and rank it while you continue through the Star Chart. This keeps crafting connected to what you are playing. Building the item, increasing its equipment rank, and advancing account Mastery are separate steps.
Buy the blueprint you actually need
On many Market weapon pages, the blueprint can be bought with Credits separately from buying the finished weapon with Platinum. Check which option you are selecting. Blueprint sources vary; the Market does not supply every weapon’s recipe. Once you have a blueprint and its materials, you can craft through the Foundry. Digital Extremes’ beginner tips
Choose something whose requirements you can understand and meet. Before committing, check the item’s displayed Mastery requirement, your available materials and whether you want to try its play style. Many weapons have minimum Mastery requirements, so a visible item is not automatically your next usable upgrade. Mastery Ranks Guide
Read the recipe before gathering resources
Open the Foundry in the Orbiter or use the PC pause menu’s Equipment > Foundry shortcut. Your acquired blueprints list component quantities as owned/needed, along with a Credit cost and build time. Hover over components to identify them. Use categories or sorting to find the intended blueprint and the Components control to inspect your materials. Foundry and Crafting FAQ
Make a short list of what is missing. Gather toward that particular recipe while progressing through missions, then recheck it before starting construction. Avoid assuming every craft has the same timer or that buying a blueprint also supplied its ingredients.
Build, wait and claim
Construction displays a timer and progress. When it finishes, claim the item; rushing instead spends Platinum. Most blueprints are consumed through crafting, while reusable blueprints have an infinity symbol and a reusable label. Some recipes use existing weapons as components, and inventory slots can prevent claiming a completed item. Foundry and Crafting FAQ
Check storage before planning your next claim. New accounts start with three Warframe slots and eleven weapon slots. Update 38 If space is the problem, review what you own before deciding what to keep or replace. Do not treat a valuable or familiar weapon as disposable just because a new craft is ready.
Turn unfamiliar equipment into Mastery
Ordinary rank-30 weapons contribute 100 Mastery points per rank, or 3,000 total; Warframes contribute 200 per rank, or 6,000 through rank 30. First completions of Star Chart missions also contribute. Repeating the same node does not repeat its first-clear Mastery award. Mastery points remain even if the equipment is later sold, and account Mastery does not directly increase damage, health or energy. Mastery Ranks Guide
Rebuilding an identical item does not let you earn its already credited ranks again. Neither does re-ranking it after Forma: polarization resets equipment rank, not your earned account Mastery. Mastery Basics
Take the test when eligible
The pause menu shows Mastery Rank Up when you have enough points to attempt the next test. Passing advances your rank. Mastery Ranks Guide Failed attempts no longer impose a cooldown; successful tests have a 23-hour cooldown. Update 38
For the next session, choose one recipe or one unfamiliar item to progress. If crafting stalls, inspect the missing requirement; if claiming stalls, inspect slots; if Mastery stalls, check whether those ranks were already credited. Keep a useful familiar option available while you learn the new equipment.
