The Bicameral Mind

Spoilers for this episode.

The Man in Black reveals that he is William, the young visitor Dolores remembers from thirty years earlier. Her journey with him and Logan belongs to a different period from their present confrontation. The maze also takes on its actual meaning: Arnold designed it as a way for hosts to reach consciousness, rather than as a hidden adventure for guests. Dolores remembers Arnold combining her with Wyatt's violent role and directing her to kill the hosts and then him, hoping to prevent the park from opening. Ford leaves her with the gun and a choice about what comes next. She finally recognizes the guiding voice within her mind as her own.

Maeve's escape brings Hector and Armistice into the repair facility, where they fight the staff and security forces. Felix helps revive Bernard, who tells Maeve that the escape itself has been written into her code. She rejects his explanation and continues toward the train, leaving her companions behind as they hold off pursuit. After seeing a mother with her child, Maeve steps off before departure to search for her daughter instead. At Ford's celebration, his farewell speech ends when Dolores shoots him in the head and turns her gun on the assembled guests. Hosts advance from the darkness while the park's control room loses power, and the guests' protection gives way to real violence.
