FBI footage and a murder investigation expose Adriana's role in cleaning up a killing at the Crazy Horse. She admits that Matush killed a customer in her office. Pressured to wear a wire, she instead offers to persuade Christopher to cooperate. When she reveals her FBI meetings to him, he nearly strangles her, then breaks down. They discuss escaping together and beginning again, with Adriana hoping that his unhappiness with Tony will make departure possible.
Christopher leaves the apartment and watches a struggling family at a petrol station. Adriana later receives Tony's call claiming that Christopher has attempted suicide and that Silvio will take her to hospital. Silvio instead drives into isolated woods. When he stops, she realises the danger and tries to escape. He pulls her from the car and shoots her as she crawls away, ending the ride that she believed would reunite her with Christopher.
Christopher discards Adriana's belongings and leaves her car in long-term airport parking. He uses heroin and tells Tony that he cannot bear the pain, provoking another beating. Tony also refuses to surrender Blundetto after Johnny insists on leaving him to Phil's revenge. At home, Tony and Carmela reconcile after he agrees to finance land for her house-building project. They visit the property together, with their restored marriage accompanying the concealment of Adriana's death.
