House Arrest

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Tony's lawyer urges him to keep his distance from visible criminal activity, so he spends time at the Barone Sanitation office and tries to maintain a quieter routine. The arrangement leaves him bored and restless rather than reassured. Richie and Junior complicate matters by using garbage routes to sell cocaine. Tony objects because the drug trade could attract federal attention to a business he needs to appear legitimate, creating another argument over Richie's conduct.

Junior reconnects with Catherine Romano, an old acquaintance who visits him during his house arrest. He is initially embarrassed about his medical problems and restrictions, but allows her to care for him. Melfi, meanwhile, drinks to manage the strain of treating Tony. An argument with another customer at a restaurant exposes her frayed temper in front of her son. Elliot challenges her handling of the situation and her continued involvement with a patient who frightens her.

The restrictions on Tony's working life do not keep him away from the familiar company at Satriale's. Christopher is back among the men after his hospitalisation, and the group occupies itself with food, cards and casual conversation. A collision outside draws their attention before the ordinary street gathering resumes. Tony settles into the company of his associates again, finding the routine he wanted in the very place his lawyer had advised him to avoid.
