The Razor Crest still needs repairs, so the Mandalorian returns to Nevarro before attempting the journey to Corvus. Greef Karga and Cara Dune have made the settlement safer, with Cara serving as marshal and Greef running its affairs. They offer repairs in exchange for help destroying a nearby Imperial base. The child stays at the local school while the hunter accompanies them and the Mythrol, whose debt to Greef has made him an unwilling assistant.
The supposedly lightly guarded outpost contains active troops and a laboratory. After disabling its cooling system to let lava destroy the installation, the group finds tanks holding experimental bodies. A recording from Dr. Pershing describes attempts to transfuse blood taken from the child into test subjects. Its recent date also proves that Gideon is alive, contradicting what the Mandalorian believed after Nevarro's earlier battle. The discovery turns a local demolition mission into evidence that the child's pursuers are continuing their experiments.
With the base overheating, the Mandalorian flies back to collect his ship and the child while the others escape in an Imperial transport. Scout troopers and TIE fighters pursue them until the repaired Razor Crest arrives and destroys the aircraft. Greef's group survives, and the hunter leaves for Corvus. Carson Teva later asks Cara for help investigating the Imperial activity. Unseen by the travelers, a mechanic has installed a tracker aboard their ship. Gideon receives confirmation that the child remains aboard and prepares his waiting forces.
