Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
After Wujing escapes and recruits former Blacklisters, Red and the task force face a wave of attacks tied to his past. Red helps dismantle the coalition and settles old accounts, while new agent Siya Malik investigates her mother Meera’s death and discovers her own history is tied to the Bureau. Congressman Arthur Hudson notices the task force’s unusual spending and opens an inquiry that grows into a pursuit of Red. Cooper and the agents must weigh their loyalty to the man who has supplied their cases against the legal and personal consequences of protecting him.
Hudson’s investigation eventually exposes the task force and puts Red on the run from the colleagues who once worked beside him. Dembe, still an FBI agent, is arrested for helping Red escape; Red’s men intercept the transfer, and Hudson shoots Dembe during the chaos. Red kills Hudson, then saves Dembe with urgent medical care and a blood transfusion before fleeing to Spain. From Spain he calls Agnes, then travels to Andalusia’s Miura ranch and walks toward a bull. The animal charges and kills him; Ressler finds Red’s body. The finale confirms his death, but never explicitly identifies who he was before taking the Reddington name. The last episodes turn the task force’s pursuit into a final separation between Red and the agents who long depended on his cases.
