Helly spends hundreds of attempts repeating an apology in the break room before Milchick accepts it. Burt invites the group to O&D. Irving finds Ricken's book, which Milchick has brought to the severed floor, and shows it to Mark and Dylan; Mark hides it in his desk, and Dylan starts reading it. Helly discovers that Mark kept Petey's map and tears into him for treating Petey's disappearance lightly. Mark shreds it. She later threatens Cobel with a paper cutter until Cobel records Helly's resignation request. Her outside self refuses it and says that Helly is not a person in her own right.
Mark learns through a news alert that Petey has died, then attends his funeral. Cobel is there in disguise and secretly removes Petey's severance chip. Grieving, Mark visits the tree where Gemma died. At work, Ms. Casey conducts a special wellness session and asks him to sculpt his feelings with clay; he shapes the tree he just visited. Irving discovers that O&D has at least seven employees in a large back room, more than Burt had suggested. Helly, still trapped by her outside self's decision, takes an extension cord and hangs herself in the elevator. The episode ends on her hanging.
