Los Pepes

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Los Pepes attack Pablo's organisation faster than the Search Bloc can reach its targets. Bodies and threatening messages appear around Medellín as Christmas approaches, and Martínez protests when his son is endangered by the armed group. Gaviria refuses to confront the people hurting Pablo, leaving the police trying to conduct an official investigation beside a campaign of torture and murder.

Murphy follows a lead involving Blackie's girlfriend, hoping to reach a suspect before Los Pepes kill another potential witness. During the operation he discovers Peña's connection to the Castaños and challenges his belief that he can control their violence. Pablo, meanwhile, strikes back at Cali by bombing a wedding attended by the cartel's associates. The struggle between the organisations increasingly reaches relatives and people outside the trafficking business.

Pablo's mother insists on attending church despite the danger of revealing the family's location. At an official Christmas gathering, Colombian and American officials agree to tolerate Los Pepes while they concentrate on Escobar. The armed group then attacks Pablo's refuge, forcing the family to flee under fire. Tata's brother Carlos is killed during the escape. With even the household no longer secure, Pablo agrees that Tata and the children must leave Colombia, abandoning his earlier insistence that they remain together.
