At a diner, Todd recounts the train robbery to his uncle Jack and Kenny, leaving out the boy he killed. Jack agrees that Todd can cook on his own. Hank tells Jesse that he knows Walt is Heisenberg, but Jesse refuses to cooperate and Saul gets him released. Walt later learns that Walter Jr. plans to have dinner with Marie and uses the news that his cancer has returned to persuade his son to stay home. Walt and Skyler meet Hank and Marie to negotiate, but nobody gives ground. As they leave, Walt hands the Schraders a DVD confession.
The recording recasts Hank as the mastermind who forced Walt to cook meth, and the Schraders realize Walt is trying to blackmail them. Hank’s credibility is further shaken when he learns his physical therapy was paid with Walt’s money. Walt then meets Jesse in the desert and offers him a new identity and a chance to leave Albuquerque. Jesse recognizes another attempt to control him and asks Walt to stop manipulating him; Walt embraces him as Jesse cries. Jesse prepares to leave, but Saul has Huell take the marijuana he brought. That reminds Jesse of the ricin cigarette Huell stole earlier. Jesse realizes Walt poisoned Brock, returns to Saul’s office for confirmation, then drives to the White house and begins pouring gasoline.
