Chuck and Jimmy begin the episode on unusually warm terms, sitting outside together while Chuck enjoys the grass under his bare feet. Sandpiper’s lawyers threaten to block Jimmy from the property and then overwhelm him with a document dump. Chuck suggests bringing the case to HHM, and Jimmy reluctantly agrees to hear the firm’s offer. Before the meeting, Chuck secretly calls Howard, setting up the rejection Jimmy does not yet expect.
Howard offers Jimmy a share of any eventual settlement and a consulting fee, but makes clear that Jimmy will not work at HHM or stay on the case. Jimmy refuses the deal and demands to know why the firm keeps shutting him out. Kim presses Howard for the real reason. Meanwhile Mike agrees to guard Daniel Wormald during a drug deal with Nacho, and he disarms another guard before calmly making sure Nacho pays the full amount.
Jimmy confronts Chuck at home and learns his brother was the one who asked Howard not to hire him. Chuck says he does not consider Jimmy a real lawyer, citing his past as Slippin’ Jimmy and doubting that people change. Jimmy is hurt by the confession and drives away, while Chuck stays behind. The episode ends with the brothers’ partnership and trust in open conflict, just as their Sandpiper case is becoming too large for Jimmy to handle alone.
