Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Angel, a vampire whose restored soul leaves him guilty over his past crimes, starts a small Los Angeles detective agency with help from Doyle, whose visions point to people in danger, and Cordelia Chase, who brings ambition and contacts from Sunnydale. Detective Kate Lockley becomes an uneasy police ally before turning away after learning Angel is a vampire. Wolfram & Hart lawyers Lindsey McDonald and Lilah Morgan repeatedly interfere, using the firm’s reach to draw Angel toward their plans. A visit from Buffy briefly makes Angel human, but he asks the Oracles to reverse time so he can keep protecting people.
Doyle gives his life saving a family of demon refugees and passes his visions to Cordelia; Wesley Wyndam-Pryce arrives to replace him, while vampire hunter Charles Gunn becomes an ally. Faith is hired by Wolfram & Hart to kill Angel, but after torturing Wesley she seeks Angel’s help and surrenders to police. In the finale, Vocah attacks over a prophecy scroll, leaving Cordelia incapacitated and the agency office destroyed. Wesley learns Angel may become human after fulfilling his destiny. The lawyers complete their ritual and restore Darla, Angel’s former sire, to life. The office explosion forces the investigators to work from Cordelia’s apartment as they continue cases, and the prophecy ties Angel’s redemption to Wolfram & Hart’s larger design.
