Jack Bauer and Cole Ortiz raid the facility where Mark Bledsoe's contractors are interrogating Dana Walsh. Bledsoe takes her as a shield, but Jack shoots him and helps Cole get her outside. CTU learns that Jack defeated the team sent to capture him and has now taken Dana. Taylor approves Logan's proposal to put Jason Pillar in charge of the manhunt, leaving Chloe responsible for CTU's other duties.
Jack threatens Dana until she reveals that her recording is in a safety deposit box at First Unity Savings. Cole objects to Jack's treatment of her, but continues with him to the bank. While Jack waits outside, Cole escorts Dana into the vault. A device in the box incapacitates Cole, and Dana kills the bank employee who investigates. She takes the recording and calls the police with Jack's location to cover her escape.
Logan separately arranges for Russian operatives to kill Jack, using Pillar's access to CTU to pass them information. Police arrive at the bank, but Jack spots Dana and breaks free, wounding an officer as he pursues her. Dana shoots a passerby during the chase and tries to keep Jack away with gunfire. Jack finally corners her and takes possession of the evidence. Although she is no longer resisting and offers to help him, he shoots her twice, leaving her dead.
