Day 3: 4:00 A.M. - 5:00 A.M.

Spoilers for this episode.

Michelle learns from Alvers that eleven more vials remain outside the Chandler Plaza Hotel. She stays inside to manage the quarantine while CTU prepares for further attacks. Gael develops symptoms far sooner than expected, and Alvers admits that an accelerant has shortened the virus's incubation period. Michelle passes this information to Tony, who cannot obtain a reassuring answer about whether his wife will survive.

A frightened hotel worker tries to escape after overhearing Gael's condition. Michelle persuades him to surrender his gun by explaining that going home could infect his wife. As more guests begin bleeding, the crowd grows harder to contain. One man breaks a window and ignores Michelle's warning to remain inside. She shoots him as he tries to leave, enforcing the order that nobody may carry the infection beyond the hotel.

Jack lets Amador break free while tracking a transmitter hidden in his bandage. Amador leads Jack and Chase toward his employer, but a supposed payment contains a bomb that kills him. Amador's employer calls Jack and demands access to Palmer, threatening to release the remaining virus. Jack connects him to the President, who hears that further instructions will follow. Palmer also gives the police a false account placing Sherry with him when Milliken died, then tells her how much he despises her actions and his own part in concealing them.
