Jack returns to CTU with Teri and Kim, but their rescue does not end the investigation into his conduct. Alberta Green places him under arrest, and Ryan Chappelle records his account of the day's events. Jack explains why he obeyed Gaines while his family was captive. Chappelle accepts that his motives were understandable but refuses to reinstate him because he broke agency rules. Tony later defends Jack's decisions despite his own complaints about Jack's leadership.
At the clinic, Teri tells her doctor about the sexual assault but asks that Jack not be informed. Nina arrives to watch over the family and encounters a man claiming to be an FBI agent. When the real agents deny knowing him and a phone he touched yields no fingerprints, she arranges to move Teri and Kim to a safehouse. The doctor gives Teri a pregnancy test before they leave, while the impostor reports their departure to Andre.
Keith learns Ferragamo is dead and wants his family to tell the police what they know. Palmer prepares to leave Los Angeles because the assassination threat remains high. During the journey, Mike reveals that Jack led the Kosovo mission Palmer authorised two years earlier. Palmer changes his destination and arrives at CTU asking to see Jack. Elsewhere, Alexis kills Carroll and meets campaign aide Elizabeth Nash, who has kept their relationship separate from her work.
